Unrated OWCP Medical Providers

If you are unable to find a federal workers’ compensation doctor, clinic or other medical provider either from the rated OWCP medical provider list, or by asking around at federal union offices or at the medical providers’ offices, you can find a list of providers who are receiving payment from OWCP-Department of Labor on the OWCP Provider Search page here.

Remember that this list is just a list of medical providers receiving payment from the Department of Labor and they may not be medical providers who are patient-friendly rather than federal government-friendly.

In fact, some of these providers could be second opinion providers or even referee physicians who are primarily on the side of the OWCP – Department of Labor or the employing federal agency.

In the case of using doctors, clinics and other providers found on the OWCP medical provider pages, the injured federal employee must do his/her homework by visiting the different medical providers’ offices and speaking to the staff.

The injured federal worker must determine:

  • Are the medical providers and their staff friendly and interested in handling your federal compensation claim?

  • Are there federal workers there at the workers’ comp medical provider’s office that one can ask:

Is this medical provider meeting all of their workers compensation case needs?

Is this medical provider treating them properly?

Is this medical provider taking the time to read their employee statements?

Is this medical provider filling out the proper paperwork?

Is the injured federal employee receiving his/her federal workers comp medical

reports and documentation in a timely fashion?

If the answer to these questions is something other than “yes”, the injured federal worker should move on to the next potential OWCP medical provider and repeat the process until the answer to all of the questions is “yes”.
